SGS College/CLF P16 withdraw from WEABL

SGS College/CLF P16 are withdrawing from the 2022/23 WEABL season, with immediate effect.

After failing to fulfil any of their scheduled fixtures to date as they sought to establish the new programme, the Gloucestershire outfit have now taken the decision to step back.

SGS Basketball Academy’s Chris Bourne said: “Unfortunately, we will not be able to continue for this season.

“We are extremely disappointed by this and apologise for the disruption it’s caused.

“Unfortunately, we were dealt some unexpected circumstances which have been disruptive to our plans. We’ve been working hard to find solutions, however, the challenges have continued.”

AoC, who administer the WEABL competition, have taken the joint-decision with Basketball England to remove SGS College/CLF P16’s fixtures from this season’s schedule.

As no games have taken place this season, no results of previously played games need to be removed.

The Northern conference will now be reduced to four teams, with Charnwood College Riders, Nottingham Academy Wildcats, The Sheffield College and The Manchester Mystics Academy still competing.
