The Sheffield College 82 – 49 Myerscough College

The Sheffield College secure a big win in a battle with Myerscough, taking their record to 2-1 in the league after an 82-49 victory.

Both teams were neck and neck in the first showed a tight,competitive game. However an impressive defensive effort by Sheffield lead to steals being converted to points and further seeing the home side up by 12 at the halfway mark, 35-24.

In the second, The Sheffield college began to out run their opposition and push their intensity to a higher level, which resulted in an 18 point lead at the end of the third. A huge push in the 4th quarter against the exhausted yet still resilient opposition lead to a further extension of the host’s lead and Sheffield found themselves 33 points ahead as the game drew to a close.

A very impressive shooting performance from Myerscough’s Celina Eisenhardt who put up a huge 34 points kept the Myerscough team in the game. The talented scored created a problem for Sheffield from both distance and in the paint. However 3 big performances from the hosts helped to counter Eisenhardt’s big day as Abbey Whitehouse put up 29 points , Ava Patchesa had 28 and Zoe Kateregga got 16.

Sheffield’s head coach Vanessa Ellis was very pleased with the team’s performance: “After a slow start in the first half, the team applied themselves and worked as a team to dominate at both ends and win comfortably.”

The Sheffield College hope to gain another win as they face the Manchester Mystics at home in two weeks time. Myerscough seek their first league win of the 2019 season also against the Mystics but in three weeks time.
