Nottingham Academy vs Myerscough College

On Wednesday the 23rd of January a young Nottingham Academy Wildcats suffered a 59-78 point loss to the visiting Myerscough College team.

A solid first half performance saw the visitors take a 42-24 lead into the break, behind 11 first half points from Sasha Lacuyer, who finished tied as the top scorer with 18. The 3rd quarter saw the Wildcats cut the lead to just 8 points going into the final period.

The home side started the 4th with a 4-0 run and cutting the lead to just 4, the visitors response was then to close the quarter with a 23-8 run, behind the resilient play of Celina Eisenhardt on to her joint top score of 18 points for her team.

“We feel like we played well in parts, just at the end we are kicking ourselves as we feel like we let one get away,” said Notting Academy Wildcats Head Coach Kenrick Liburd.

“Myerscough are definitely an improved team and shot it well at times and also did a good job of executing their stuff in the half court. We just have to keep working and getting better, some of our younger players really stepped up today and we are starting to understand what it takes to compete.”

Shaniya Rose once again led her team in scoring with 16, supported by 10 a piece from Caitlin Riley and Tasmin Hickling. Kyra Smith and Jess McGrath added 14 and 10 points respectively.

Myerscough college have a trip to league leaders Charnwood college up next on the 30th of January. Following a week off, Nottingham Wildcats have the return game to Myerscough college on the 6th of February.
