Nottingham Academy vs Manchester Mystics Academy

Nottingham Academy Wildcats hosted the visiting Manchester Mystics Academy on Wednesday afternoon, a disappointing 3rd quarter collapse ended in 49 – 64 lose for the hosts.

A strong first half display for the Wildcats saw them up 10 in the second and go in to the half leading 29-24, behind 15 points from Shaniya Rose. The 3rd quarter saw Manchester turn the game on it’s head winning the quarter 23-1, Jade Mbam scored 11 of her game high 24 points including 3 triples in a row to change the flow of the game.

“Very proud of our first half, we looked good, shared the ball, played hard on D and controlled the tempo,” said Wildcats Head Coach Kenrick Liburd.

At times however habits can be hard to break and we struggled to stay composed and went away from the game plan in 3rd. We were pleased with 3 of the 4 quarters today and showed real improvements.”

Chloe Andrew had 22 for the visitors combining with Mbam to score 46 of the teams 64 points. Shaniya Rose ended with 19 points to pace the wildcats, supported by 9 from Fola Okunlawon and 8 from Mariam Olawoyin.

Nottingham Academy Wildcats will look to continue to strive for their first win on Wednesday Jan 23rd at home against Myerscough College, whilst Manchester will visit conference leaders Charnwood.
