Myerscough College vs Charnwood College

Myerscough ended the unbeaten record of Charnwood after claiming a 47-41 success on Wednesday.

Charnwood started out well, with Harriet Swindells hitting two 3’s in the first quarter, but Myerscough responded with resilience winning the second quarter (9-6) but Charnwood still held a 26-20 halftime lead.

Myerscough came out of the locker room confident; hustling and working together on defence leaving Charnwood unable to score. Seizing the opportunity Myerscough went on a 16-0 run, including a three from England International Shauna Harrison which gave Myerscough their first lead of the game.

With momentum on their side, toughness on the glass, and fantastic leadership, Myerscough were able to build on their lead in the fourth. Composure and good decision making down the stretch ensured the win.

“I could not be more proud of the girls today. We put a game-plan in place, and everyone bought in.” said Myerscough’s Head Coach Julie Page.

“It’s a great win for us, with everyone playing an important role in todays success. The togetherness of the group is something that is very special indeed.”

Shauna Harrison led Myerscough with 16 points whilst Milly Knowles had 15.

As for the visitors, Harriet Swindells led Charnwood with 9 points, followed by Anna Popovic with 8.

Charnwood finish 8-1 in the North with Myerscough improving to 6-2.
