Greig City v City of London Academy

City of London Academy maintained their perfect record with a 32-47 triumph away at Greig City Academy.

Emerald Ekpiteta led the way with 12 points with Khaleah Edwards adding 10 points for the visitors in the win.

GCA were led by Simon Henshaw-Ejiogu’s game-high 16 points as they drop to a 2-5 record.

After D’Andri St Marthe opened the scoring for GCA, CoLA went on a 12-0 run and it looked like the game was going to get out of control. However, a quick 6-0 reply brought some hope for the young GCA team.

The hosts continued to battle hard on defence but struggled to score themselves as the second half started 25-15.

CoLA managed to start the second half in more typical fashion and extended their lead to 35-16 after five minutes of play, the young Henshaw-Ejiogu provided the main scoring threat for GCA collecting 11 points in the second half.

“CoLA might not have been at their best today, but they still have a toughness about them that makes them hard to score against,” commented GCA Head Coach, Dan Bowmaker.

“We continued to make some poor turnovers against that pressure that makes it real difficult to build any momentum.

“The girls played freely on offence and made some assertive plays, I was really pleased with the solid contribution from Simona given her age”

Greig City host Oaklands next week, while City of London Academy welcome Rydens on the same day.
