Copleston High School vs Oaklands College

Copleston High School moved to 2-0 in the WEABL with a comprehensive win at home against an inexperienced Oaklands College team. With the Wolves missing key players in Kata Fulop, Khia Lee and Fionuala Wharton, Copleston were able to give extended playing time to several of their team’s less experienced players as the Suffolk side eased to victory.

Copleston were led by Great Britain internationals Esther Little (25) and Cameron Taylor-Willis (24), while Charlotte Redhead added 13 points. For Oaklands, Sami Brown led the way with 13 points, while Patricia Solis added 10.

Copleston Coach Nick Drane said, “After last week’s win against Barking Abbey, it was key for us to maintain our momentum. Oaklands are traditionally a very strong programme so we were prepared and up for a tough game. It’s a shame they were so under-manned and have so many injuries, but we will certainly take the win and move forward.”

Drane added, “It was a great opportunity for us to give some extended playing time to the likes of Phoebe Colton, Kenzie Day and Abigail Yorke, who all did a great job.”

Copleston play their third game in the WEABL Southern Conference next week when they travel to Reading to face John Madejski Academy, while Oaklands are on the road again, this time to face national champions Barking Abbey School.
