Don't Miss

Copleston High School 93 – 49 Oaklands College

Copleston were in dominant form as they dispatched Oaklands by nearly fifty points as they moved to top of the WEABL South Conference with their third consecutive win.

A balanced Ipswich attack saw five players record double-doubles as the Ipswich team made short work of their less experienced opponents.

The game started with the hosts going on a 13-2 run, with three pointers from Charlotte Redhead and Ella Pearson, while the duo of six footers Cameron Taylor-Willis and Susannah Rafiu was simply too much for their opponents.

Once the lead was established, Copleston clearly played with another gear (or two) available to them should they need it, but they didn’t. Oaklands made a valiant effort to keep things close but the talented IBA roster was just too much. Copleston held a 51-26 lead at the half and went on to win the game 93-49.

Fifteen year old Susannah Rafiu was in spectacular form, the 6’1 forward showed off her impressive skill-set with a 26 point, eighteen rebound, six assist and four block performance. Elsewhere, Ella Pearson added twenty one and Cameron Taylor-Willis helped herself to twenty-three points and twelve rebounds. Charlotte Redhead added ten points, ten rebounds and eight assists.

“I thought we were good today. These games are not the easiest to play in, but I thought we got a lot out of it. We have a talented group and they are great fun to coach. The key thing is that everyone knows and appreciates each others roles. I thought the whole team were good today,” said Copleston coach Nick Drane.

Copleston host Itchen next on the 20 November while Oaklands host Barking in December.
