Copleston High School 97 – 42 Itchen College

Copleston moved to 4-0 in the WEABL South Conference with a comprehensive 97-41 win over Itchen College.

Copleston Coach Nick Drane was eager for the team to put in an improved performance after the two sides met at the weekend in the Jnr. NBL U18 National Cup. “At the weekend we just didn’t play hard. I felt that the girls didn’t get out of second gear, so today was about playing at the right level of intensity,” the Copleston coach commented.

Itchen put up a valiant fight, with Catlin Collier collecting fifteen points in the game to lead the visitors. However, Copleston just had too much firepower. WEABL leading scorer Ella Pearson was again efficient with 33 points, while GB international Cameron Taylor-Willis was dominant with 37 points to go with twelve rebounds. Charlotte Redhead also enjoyed another good game for Copleston, with the point guard collected fourteen points, including four three pointers, whilst directing the excellent Copleston offence.

“This was a better performance by the girls. Itchen are doing all the right things as a developing WEABL programme and having played them twice in four days, it’s obvious they are going to be getting better each season. We still need to be much better, next week should be a great test,” added Drane.

Copleston are on the road to undefeated JMA next week in what should be a fascinating match up.
