City of London Academy vs Oaklands College

City of London Academy progressed to the WEABL Semi-finals for the fourth consecutive year with a 64-31 win over Oaklands College in the 1 vs 8 match up on Wednesday afternoon.

The game started out with Maya Hyacienth and Khia Lee going head-to-head for the games first fourteen points, giving CoLA a 10-4 lead mid-way through the first quarter. CoLA then went on a run with Amelia Sandie and Megan Haines connecting on back-to-back triples to give the home side a 26-12 lead, which they continued to build on by winning the second quarter 18-3 to go into the half up 44-15.

The second half was a much slower affair, with both team struggling to score around the basket. CoLA took the 3rd quarter 10-6 and the fourth quarter was tied at 10-10.

CoLA Captain Adaobi Nebuwa said, “It was nice so many people came to support us, we usually have good crowds at CoLA but today was especially big and felt like the whole school was behind us. We can play better than we did today, however it was a good performance to get us through to the next round.” 

CoLA were led by Hyacienth who finished with 17 points, Amelia Sandie tallied 14 points with Megan Haines weighing in with 10 first half points. Oaklands were lead in scoring by Louise Rouse with 12 points supported by Khia Lee with 4 total.

CoLA will now welcome JMA in the Semi-Finals on Wednesday March 20th for a place in the finals.
