City of London Academy vs Oaklands College

City of London Academy hosted Oaklands College in the WEABL Southern Conference on Wednesday afternoon, with CoLA winning 82-23 in a one-sided affair against the Hertfordshire side.

In a game that saw CoLA win the first quarter 35-4 without pressing their opponents, the rest of the game seemed to be a formality in terms the result, but Oaklands rallied in the second quarter to provide a much more competitive tie and show their capabilities to be a competitive team in this league with the quarter ending just 12-7 in favour of CoLA.

Oaklands Coach Lee Ryan said, “Our second quarter is where we can be in the WEABL right now, players have got to work hard and smart for that performance over 40 minutes.”

CoLA Assistant Coach Brian Nguru had this to say of the game, “It was nice to see all of the girls contribute today. Oaklands were physical and competed well, but CoLA is a tough place to play. Overall we were pleased with the consistent energy from the girls.”

CoLA were paced by Amelia Sandie and Jade Guidolin-Duncan with 15 points apiece, supported by Megan Haines who added 12. Oaklands were led in scoring by Maisie Moore and Khia Lee who had six points apiece.

Both teams are back in action on 28 November when CoLA visit reigning national champions Barking Abbey School, whilst Oaklands will host John Madejski Academy.
