Charnwood v Nottingham

Charnwood maintained their unbeaten run in the WEABL this season after recording a 103-34 success at home to Nottingham.

Harriet Swindells top scored with 23 points, while Ebony Horton added 20 points in their side’s sixth win.

Megan Jones contributed a double-double with Chloe Compton finishing with 12 points all from downtown.

It was a great start defensively by Charnwood keeping Nottingham to 3 points in the first quarter and going on to score 26.

In the second half, Charnwood continued their strong defence which caused Nottingham some problems putting them in difficult situations and helped Charnwood score in transition. Nottingham responded by timely shots from the outside, but the home side ended up comfortable victors.

“The girls need a great job today, they were locked in defensively and did a great job in offence with pushing in transition and sharing the ball,” said Head Coach, Krumesh Patel.

Jones added: “Today we played good team basketball. I think we shared the ball well and we shot the ball well. We had a great start and carried it on throughout the game. Our bench brought energy and it was a good atmosphere to play in.”

Nottingham scoring was led by Ines Guerreiro led Nottingham with 22 points as they drop to a 3-5 record.

Charnwood are back in action away at Loreto on February 22.
