Charnwood College vs Myerscough College

Charnwood College Riders advanced to the WEABL league play with a hard fought 68-54 win over Myerscough College.

Holly Winterburn led the scoring with 25 points, while Ebony Horton added 13 and Rebecca Morrison had 11.

The home side edged ahead at 18-17 after 10 minutes with both teams excelling from 3-point range in the first half with a combined 12 triples.

Charnwood picked up their defence in the second half to break away with timely stops in the fourth before a strong finish secured the win.

“It was a really physical game today,” said Head Coach, Krumesh Patel. “Myerscough threw a lot of different things at us.

“With a new group of girls this year in this competition it was great to see the girls stay together and deal with adversity and gain a hard-fought win.”

Lauren Saa added: “Overall I think the game was quite challenging for the team. However, when we started to work together and increase the intensity we got something out of it.

“We achieved the goals which were set and finished with a good team win.”

Shauna Harrison top scored for the visitors with 16 points with Kyra Smith adding 10.

Charnwood advance to the WEABL league play, while Myerscough will make their way in to the play-off stages.
