Barking Abbey vs Oaklands College

Barking Abbey booked their spot in the WEABL Championship Final with a 111-47 win over a short-handed Oaklands side at BA on Wednesday afternoon.

BA used an impressive all-around team performance led by 20 points and 8 assists from Charlotte Ellmore that saw six players reach double digits on their way to a 64 point victory.

Loren Christie had 19 points, 13 rebounds and 6 steals, whilst Flora Durgerian added 18.

Oaklands were led by 23 points and 12 rebounds from Ciara Belsham, with Khia Lee adding 13 rebounds to go with her 9 points.

“Really happy with the game,” BA Head Coach Karen Burton said. “Players came in focused and that showed in the start we had. We executed in transition and were excellent from the perimeter with both Charlotte and Flora finding their rhythm from the three.

“Loren Christie’s and Megan Sheret’s inside contributions were a huge boost and it was a great all round team performance.

“The team are looking forward to being back at the finals after a gap year and are ready and focused for the game.”

BA got off to a blistering start, leading 26-7 after the opening period and never looking back. The lead had extended to 56-22 at half time, before the team went into cruise control in the second half

BA will take on Charnwood in the final next Thursday at Leicester Arena.
