Barking Abbey v Rydens

Barking Abbey rounded out the WEABL regular season with a 96-61 win over Rydens Enterprise School on Tuesday afternoon.

With BA already locked into third place, the result had no bearing on the standings and it gave Head Coach Karen Burton the chance to play a number of under-17 players.

BA jumped out to a 21-8 first quarter lead and never looked back, winning every quarter on their way to the 35 point win.

“With it being a game that wouldn’t affect the standings it gave us a chance to play a lot of our under-17 players,” Burton said.

“We got great contributions from across the board, especially from our younger players that had the opportunity to step out on the floor today.

“Finishing third in the league, our concentration now turns to the playoffs and the defence of our title. It may not be the route we would usually take but giving different players the opportunity throughout the season to see the floor is a massive bonus for us as an Academy.”

Sade Orija had 24 points to lead BA, Almonte had 16, whilst Milene Gama Vaz finished with 12.

Rydens were led by an impressive outing from new addition Alina Ples who had 27, whilst Lauren France had 21 and Temi Obademi 6.
