Barking Abbey v Oaklands College

Barking Abbey put in one of their most disappointing performances of the season as they suffered a 49-68 at the hands of Oaklands College in the WEABL at home on Wednesday afternoon.

Kyla Nelson top scored for Oaklands with 25 points, Anna Nagy had 20 whilst Kata Fulop added 13 as Oaklands improved to 4-2 in the South.

The visiting side pounced on BA early, jumping out to a 12-2 lead behind 8 points from Anna Nagy and never looked back as BA were unable to ever get into the game. Oaklands picked apart BA’s lackadaisical defence as Kyla Nelson got going in the second half, where she scored 17 of her game-high 25 points.

“All credit to Oaklands College today who were the better team and fully deserved this win,” said BA Head Coach Karen Burton.

“I hope it serves as a wake up call for us. We didn’t give a performance that we were satisfied with today so the challenge is now for our players to strive to be better.”

Charlotte Ellmore led BA with 13 points, Chloe Gaynor joined her in double figures with 10, whilst Savannah Wilkinson had 8 as BA fell to 1-3 on the season in the WEABL.

BA will look to bounce back when they take on undefeated South Conference leaders City of London Academy on the 22nd February away, whilst Oaklands take on Greig City Academy on February 8th away.
