Barking Abbey School vs Oaklands College

Barking Abbey School got back to winning ways in the WEABL with a 94-40 win over Oaklands College on Wednesday afternoon.

A strong first quarter from Barking Abbey set the game as they opened up with a 17-1 start behind strong play from Lily Annim who had eight points in the opening period.

Oaklands showed good resistance in the second half, but Barking still managed to put together a good team performance in victory.

Lily Annim lead a balanced scoring attack on the day for Barking Abbey with 20 points, while Loren Christie (19), Macy Spinks (13), Teresa Da Silva (13) and Patrycja Pawlata (12) all reached double figures.¬†Sami Brown led Oaklands with 11 points, joined by Khia Lee and Ellie O’Mahony who chipped in six points apiece.

Barking Abbey Coach Diana Naydenova commented, “We started well from the first minutes of the game. All five players were concentrated from the beginning and on defense we were aggressive leading to getting opportunities in the fast break. We did a good job sharing the ball and found ways to get open shots. I thought that Lily Annim and Patricia Pawlata both had good performances today.”

Barking Abbey will be on the road against John Madejski Academy next week, whilst Oaklands head into the Christmas break before welcoming Copleston in January 2019.
