Barking Abbey School v John Madejski Academy

Barking Abbey improved to 3-0 in the WEABL atop of the table, after an 89-54 win over John Madejski Academy on Wednesday afternoon at home.

BA went on an 11-0 run to open the game and never looked back, maintaining a double digit lead for the majority of the contest and pulling away in the fourth quarter behind the play of Megan Sheret and Loren Christie.

Charlotte Ellmore led BA with 24 points, Zoe Willis added 15 and Loren Christie had 14.

“For JMA’s first year in the WEABL they gave a great account of themselves,” BA Head Coach Karen Burton commented. “I can see them getting better as the season goes on. I am happy that we played with a tempo that set the pace of the game throughout.We had good leadership again from the Seniors in Charlotte and Zoe.

“That’s three good solid wins for us in the WEABL with the players playing in WBBL and Division One on a weekly basis it shows how important it is to play at the highest level consistently.”

JMA were led by reigning WEABL Player of the Week Noa Sanchez Marquez with 20 points, with Angelique Villava-Cua with 14 and Saffie Jarju with 10.

BA will now travel to face Copleston next week, whilst JMA at at home against Charnwood.
