WEABL Player of the Week – 22 February 2023

A stats issue meant that one game from last Wednesday didn’t reach us until past the deadline, narrowing the field of four games to three for the purposes of selecting our latest Player of the Week.
That didn’t mean there weren’t plenty of worthy potential selections though, especially with Itchen beating Barking 99-29 during the week.
In the end, CoLA’s Ebere Egbirika did enough to stand tall and ensure her selection from this latest round of games, playing a major role in CoLA’s 74-46 road win against JMA.
Egbirika poured in 23 points on 10/16 shooting, enjoying an efficient day at the office to go with nine rebounds and four assists.
On the defensive end, the talented guard nabbed an impressive six steals to cause problems for the hosts, and her final efficiency rating of 26 showed how well she played.

Speaking about the award, Egbirika said: “I’m grateful for this recognition for our team, I felt we needed a mature performance from me this week and that’s was my aim for the 40 minutes.
“It’s been a good season. I really love these girls, collectively we are invested in doing whatever it takes for the greater good of our teams success.”
