WEABL Player of the Week – 11 January 2023

The WEABL is back for 2023, and with it, some excellent performances worthy of recognition.

Our first recipient of the New Year is a repeat winner and in the midst of an excellent season for her side, The Manchester Mystics Academy.

Isobel Robinson helped the North West side to a gutsy 79-74 home win against Charnwood College Riders in week 10, with Robinson more than doing her bit to get the hosts over the line.

Hitting 16/25 from the field to close on 33 points, the former POTW winner added eight boards, three blocks and two steals for a final efficiency rating of 36.

Speaking about her performance, Robinson said:  “Against a tough Charnwood side, our team pulled through an intense and nerve-wrecking fourth quarter to hang on for the win.

“With everyone playing their parts defensively and making an impact offensively, the team’s performance was really exciting.”

Manchester head coach Rob Fairley added: “Isobel once again had a great performance this week, which was also in my opinion one of the best all round team performances we’ve had this year as well.

“Nick has Charnwood playing really well despite key injuries and we really had to come together as a team to see this one through.

“Isobel’s performance was all the more impressive, coming away with those numbers given that she plays in such a team oriented way.”
