WEABL Player of the Week – 9 March 2022

The regular season may be at an end, but there’s still time for another Player of the Week to be crowned after some worthy displays.

Carrying her stunning WNBL form into the WEABL, Barking’s Fatmata Janneh was on song once again in her side’s 87-82 road win against Copleston.

Despite being away to a tough opponent, Janneh made short work of the Suffolk programme to drop 43 points, hitting seven triples, to go with 10 rebounds and five steals.

A 43 efficiency rating was some distance ahead of the next closest mark for the week, a testament to Janneh’s latest performance.

The talented wing also added 16 points in BA’s 72-48 win against the American School in London last week, further adding to her claim for POTW honours.

Speaking about her award, Janneh said: “Everything on the court is growing more and more, for the team and I.

“Being given the Player of the Week award again just shows that with my teammates we can help each other get better, on and off the court, week in, week out.”

Barking head coach David Lavinier added: “Fatmata’s taking big strides in the right direction each week and those performances are being rewarded with wins for the team.”
