WEABL Player of the Week – 23 February 2022

There’s just a few weeks remaining of the WEABL regular season, but some players are hitting top form with the playoffs right around the corner.

Our latest WEABL Player of the Week recorded a stunning performance in week 17, and her 37 efficiency rating was easily a league-high last time out.

Charnwood’s Katie Januszewska put on a show as the Riders beat Derby 78-65 in a game that had big implications on the playoff race.

The talented young forward dropped 27 points to go with 13 rebounds (six on offence) for an impressive double-double, adding three steals and four blocks.

Speaking about her award, Januszewska said: “I’m really happy to get this award, it was great to get the win and we played well as a team.

“Now we have to keep building on it!”

Charnwood head coach Nick Moodey added: “KJ’s all round ability on both ends of the floor makes her a pleasure to coach and I’m so glad that she’s got the recognition this week.

“She’s had some great performances recently and along with some great performances from other players in the team we are starting to build momentum going into the postseason.

“Although she is a great scorer on the floor, it’s the other aspects of KJ’s game that really show how well she played this week, she shared the ball and crashed the boards on both ends whilst making some big plays on defence as well.”
