WEABL Recap – 19 January

The WEABL put on a trio of games this past Wednesday as the race for the playoffs continues to heat up.

Here’s a quick round-up of all three games, starting with another win for Southern leaders CoLA.

City of London Academy 68-35 The American School in London

City of London Academy’s perfect record remains intact for another week as they beat The American School in London 68-35.

It was another staunch defensive performance from CoLA, with Funmi Amode taking advantage at the other end to drop a game-high 27 points.

ASL’s Meghan Lang had the most success against CoLA’s tough D, she finished on 12 points as the only player to make it to double digits.

Barking Abbey 57-62 Copleston High School

Olivia Forster enjoyed a stand out performance as Copleston beat Barking Abbey 62-57.

Forster led all scorers with a game-high 21 points, with Alice Fallon providing the support. The former Sheffield Hatter had 15.

Nicholle Lavinier (16pts) and Fatmata Janneh (14pts) combined for 30 of Barking’s points, but it wouldn’t be enough.

The Sheffield College 75-60 Charnwood College Riders

The Sheffield College picked up their second win of the season as they saw off Charnwood 75-60.

Steph Oliver enjoyed a fine afternoon as she poured in 24 points for the hosts, as Jasmine Graham scored 18 more and Abbey Whitehouse closed on 14.

Erin Powell’s 21 points couldn’t stop the Riders from falling to 0-3, now the only team in the Northern conference without a win.
