WEABL Recap – 12 January

The WEABL is back for the second half of the season, with three games this past week to get things underway.

Here’s a quick round-up of how everything played out.

Manchester Mystics Academy 42-79 Nottingham Academy Wildcats

Nottingham retained their perfect start to the season, moving to 4-0 following a 79-42 victory over Manchester.

Miriam Olawoyin enjoyed a solid outing for the Wildcats to drop a game-high 21 points, with Macy Cook adding 18 more.

Lilja Toland top scored for Manchester, she had 9 points.

Oaklands College 37-61 City of London Academy

In the South, CoLA are also still unbeaten as they knocked off Oaklands 61-37.

It was another tight defensive performance by the London programme, with their average points allowed per game now sitting at just 37.7.

Emily O’Connell and Funmi Amode both led the way on offence with 12 points for CoLA, whilst Kizmina Spence had 11 for Oaklands.

The American School of London 43-83 Copleston High School

Tuesday evening saw Copleston head to London and beat ASL 83-43.

It was the Suffolk programme’s fifth win of the season as they moved into second place overall, thanks in part to an impressive 27 points from Alice Fallon.

Maddie Wilkins top scored for ASL, she had 18 points for the WEABL debutants.
