WEABL Recap – 1 December

It was a busy week in the WEABL to begin December thanks to an additional Monday night fixture between Copleston and The American School in London.

That contest added to four from this past Wednesday, providing plenty of action for WEABL fans.

Here’s a quick round-up of how everything played out.

Copleston High School 102-40 The American School in London

Copleston began their week in the best way possible, easily seeing off WEABL debutant ASL 102-40.

Olivia Forster was once again a standout for the hosts, dropping 26 points to go with 11 boards on a 35 efficiency performance.

Saruna Gudza’s 18 points from 7-10 shooting was also a highlight.

Meghan Lang top scored for ASL, she had 12.

Derby College Trailblazers 79-65 Charnwood College Riders

The only game in the North this week, Derby claimed local bragging rights as they beat Charnwood 79-65.

The Trailblazers second win of the season was powered by a game-high 24 points from Megan Lovatt as Natasha Barker added 19 more.

Katie Januszewska also impressed to lead the Riders on 23 points, but it wouldn’t be enough in the all-Midlands clash.

City of London Academy 74-37 John Madejski Academy

CoLA once again put their stingy defence on display this week, limiting JMA’s offence on the way to a 74-37 win.

The victory keeps the London side perfect on the year at 4-0, tied with two other teams for top spot.

Funmi Amode continued her good form for the hosts to close on 15 points, whilst eight points from Tejonah-Sharon McKay was the top score for JMA.

Copleston High School 80-62 Itchen College

Copleston made it two from two for the week on Wednesday as they dispatched Itchen 80-62.

Olivia Forster was once again central to the Suffolk side’s efforts, she had 21 points as Alice Fallon (15pts) and Christabel Osarobo (13pts) both played well.

Faye Endean’s 16 points couldn’t swing the contest for the South coast programme, with Copleston now moving into a share of top spot in the conference on 12 points.

Barking Abbey 50-72 Oaklands College

Barking are still searching for their first win of the season after a third defeat in a row, going down 72-50 against Oaklands.

Daisy Porter helped to pour it on for the visitors, she had 25 points and Joice Leavold added 22 more as the Wolves moved to 4-2.

Fatmata played well for BA, she had 21 points.
