Summer Showcase – week 4 preview

Week four represents the last group of games before a short break to begin June, with the WEABL Summer Showcase set for a week off before competition resumes.

Before that pause though, there are three further games to look forward to, with the trio all taking place tomorrow afternoon.

Results and top scorers from previous weeks can be seen on the score ticker at the top of this page.

North Pool

James Watt College-BMet v The Sheffield College

Midlands side James Watt play their first game of the Summer Showcase tomorrow, entertaining The Sheffield College.

The Yorkshire side are currently 0-3 after losses to Nottingham, Derby and Manchester.

Reigning North MVP Abby Whitehouse has top scored in Sheffield’s last two games and averages 18.0PPG so far, she’ll be looking to continue that steady form.

With three class of ’21 players at their disposal in Sara Mullgrave, Mya Muntari and Ruth Usman, that trio all have the ability to make an impact for JWC tomorrow.

Charnwood College Riders v Nottingham Academy Wildcats

The only other fixture in the North sees Nottingham take a trip to Midlands rivals Charnwood.

Both teams enter this one in good form, with the Wildcats currently 1-0 and the Riders 2-0, though neither side played last week and Nottingham haven’t been in action since the opening set of games.

Kate Davis (15pts v Manchester) and Kasey Cox (12.5PPG) have both played well so far for Charnwood, whilst Maisie Evison top scored in Nottingham’s only game with 23 points

South Pool

Itchen College v Oaklands College

Oaklands head to the South coast tomorrow to face Itchen in what should be an exciting match up.

Like Northern side James Watt, Oaklands are also yet to play so far in the Summer Showcase, making them somewhat of an unknown quantity.

Itchen by comparison have played in every game week, sporting a 2-1 record. Coach Milner’s side taste defeat last time out though, losing 69-54 to CoLA.

Sara Tarr and Charlotte Finn have both picked up Player of the Week honours for Itchen, highlighting the quality they bring to this year’s Showcase.
