Game Day Recap – Week 16

In the final week of WEABL action, there are just a handful of games left before the end of the regular season.

In the Northern Conference, Sheffield College finished their debut campaign with a 62-52 home loss against #2 seed Nottingham Academy Wildcats, but still make the playoffs in 4th spot. Zoe Katerega continued her hot form for Sheffield with 21 points, whilst Mariam Olowoyin led all scores for the Wildcats on 17.

Playoff Imact

That locks in the Northern Conference playoff seedings, with Charnwood #1, Nottingham #2, Manchester #3 and Sheffield #4.

City of London secured the #3 seed in the Southern Conference following a 59-37 win over Barking Abbey. Simona Henshaw had 16 points for the hosts, with reigning WEABL Player of the Week Isi Ozzy-Momodu adding 15 more. Elizabeth Olisaja had a team high 13 points for BA, who still make the playoffs despite the loss.

Playoff Impact

Some games in the Conference still need to be played, and if they’re unlikely to beat the regular season deadline, they may be claimed by a team 20-0, or ultimately voided as 0-0.

As things stand, JMA, Copleston and CoLA are all tied on 21 points. To separate them, a mini-league table is created using just the results from the three teams involved. That would put JMA and Copleston in a tie (2 wins, 1 loss) and CoLA 3rd (1 win, 3 losses). With JMA and Copleston tied, the head-to-head tiebreaker is used there which the Rockets own, making it JMA #1, Copleston #2, CoLA #3.

Barking are set to finish as the #4 seed regardless.

We’ll have reports on both those games tomorrow afternoon.
