Week 11 Preview – WEABL

Joe Pinchin/Leicester Riders

With the WEABL now ready to move into 2020, we’ve got a pair of games on tap to get things back underway.

Myerscough College (0-5) v The Sheffield College (3-2)

Myerscough will be glad to see the back of 2019, failing to secure a win and conceding two 20-0 forfeits in the process.

Sheffield have looked brighter in their maiden WEABL season, picking up a pair of victories against Derby plus an 82-49 win against tomorrow’s opponents back in November. Despite their struggles,¬†Celina Eisenhardt has averaged a double-double on the year of 22.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest. If she can pull Myerscough to a victory this season remains to be seen though.

Copleston High School (4-1) v City of London Academy (3-2)

Unbeaten at 4-0 until their final game of 2019, Copleston then fell to a heavy 90-56 defeat to new leaders John Madejski Academy. The Suffolk team need to pick themselves up quickly though with 3rd place CoLA next up on the schedule.

Coach Drane will no doubt be hoping that the mid-season break has provided his injury hit roster with adequate time to rest and recuperate, though it remains to be seen who Copleston will have at their disposal tomorrow.

Amelia Sandie has been an undoubted leader on offence for CoLA, scoring a team high 13.4ppg through five games. She’ll be hoping to take advantage of any holes in the hosts’ roster.
