WEABL Player of Week 14 – Shaniya Rose

After helping her side past undefeated Northern Conference leaders Charnwood, Nottingham Academy Wildcats’ Shaniya Rose has been selected as the WEABL Player of the Week.

With a 65-55 road win, the Wildcats inflicted a first defeat of the season onto Charnwood with Rose playing a key role. A 20 point, 13 rebound double made a big difference for the visitors, with the talented scorer also adding seven steals to her performance for good measure.

“I’m really pleased to be picked as Player of the Week,” said Rose, who finished with an efficiency rating of 29.

“This season our coach has placed a lot of emphasis on work ethic, concentration and family first mentality which is paying off in my individual skill and overall for our team.”

Nottingham head coach Kenrick Liburd added: “We have challenged Shaniya to do more then just stand around and shoot, we believe she can impact the game in multiple ways and this is a real positive for her to continue to build on.”
