WEABL Player of Week 4 – Susannah Rafiu

For the third week in a row, the WEABL Player of the Week award is heading East as Copleston’s Sussanah Rafiu receives recognition for a solid outing against Oaklands College.

Helping her side to a 93-49 win, 15-year-old Rafiu dropped 26 points to go with an impressive 18 boards, seven assists and four blocks. Her 43 efficiency rating displayed just how dominant she was as the Wolves were powerless to slow her down.

“I’m flattered to win this award, it means a lot as so many great players have won this previously,” said Rafiu. “We have made a great start to the season, and I am lucky to play on a team with so many talented players that I have been able to look up to over the last few years.”

Copleston head coach Nick Drane added: “Susannah has made a huge impact to start the season. Her talent is obvious for all to see, but the work she has put in to develop her skills has been great to see.

“She has grown so much both physically and in terms of her understanding of the game and her confidence on and off the court. For a 15 year old, her contribution to this team is phenomenal.”
