Week 3 Preview – WEABL

As the WEABL schedule advances into its third week, there’s a trio of games to take a look at before games tip off tomorrow.

Manchester Mystics (0-0) v Charnwood College (1-0)

Manchester begin their season with a tricky test at home as champions Charnwood head to the North West.

Although Charnwood sit at 1-0, they are yet to play this season themselves with the sole win coming by way of forfeit v Sheffield College. As such, it’ll be an opening game of the season for both these teams tomorrow, though you’d have to say the advantage probably lies with the Riders given their success in 2018/19.

2018/19 result – Manchester Mystics 50 – 109 Charnwood College

City of London Academy (0-1) v Copleston High School (0-0)

Another side getting their campaign underway for the new season are Copleston as they head down to London to face CoLA.

The London programme lost 62-44 in Reading a week ago so they’ll be wanting to bounce back with a win here. These programmes met in WNBL Division One at the weekend with Ipswich taking a win on that occasion. Although the rosters aren’t the exactly the same, the victory is sure to provide Coach Drane’s side with a confidence boost ahead of what could be a tight contest.

Oaklands College (0-1) v John Madejski Academy (1-0)

Louise Rouse scored 30 points on debut for the Wolves against BA, she’ll be hoping to continue that good form against the Rockets. Likewise,¬†Carmen Segura enjoyed a team high 17 points against CoLA and will be looking to stay hot here.
