WEABL Player of Week 3 – Ella Pearson

Copleston grabbed their first win of the season on the road in London this week, beating City of London Academy 55-40. One of the reasons for their success was the play of Ella Pearson and for that, she’s been selected as the WEABL Player of the Week.

Pearson was a force to be reckoned with at both ends of the court, helping to keep a potent CoLA line up to just 40 points whilst scoring 21 of her own to go with six rebounds, two assists and four steals.

“It was great to get off to a winning start,” said Pearson, who enjoyed an efficiency rating of 26. “Especially to the team that edged us out for the conference title last season. It was a real team effort.”

“Ella was huge for us,” added Copleston head coach Nick Drane. “The stats speak for themselves but it was Ella’s defence on CoLA’s most influential player in the second half that allowed us to gain an advantage. CoLA have been the best team in the South in recent years and I expect them to be right there again this year so this was a massive win for us.”
