WEABL Week 15 Round Up

Week 15 proved to be a relatively light affair, with just 3 games taking place this past Wednesday. That still provided ample opportunity for three sides to pick up timely wins though!

Southern Conference

In the Southern Conference, Oaklands and City of London battled to a low scoring final, with CoLA taking the spoils 48-29. Despite home advantage, Oaklands started slowly and allowed their opponents to sprint out to a 16-0 lead to begin the game. That slow start would ultimately be too much to overcome despite the Wolves efforts in the rest of the contest. The hosts would only lose the rest of the game 32-29, but spotting the London side a 16-point lead was always going to make for an uphill battle.  The win helped CoLA continue their push up the standings, whilst the final score showed the progress Oaklands have made this season having lost their previous match up to the same opponent by 60 points earlier in the year.

Northern Conference

Charnwood continued their unbeaten streak in the Northern Conference with a 109-50 road win over Manchester Mystics Academy. Myerscough were also able to pick up a victory in Week 15 as they knocked off the winless Nottingham Academy Wildcats 60-38. That leaves the two North West sides tied on 12 points in the standings, though Myerscough have played 2 more games and completed their season with last Wednesday’s game. That means a win in either of Manchester’s final two contests will confirm them as the Northern Conference’s 2nd placed team, which could be a real possibility given one of their remaining fixtures is against bottom side Nottingham.
