WEABL Week 6 Round Up

Another quiet week in the WEABL saw a couple of postponements mean a single game slate of Week 6 action, as Southern Conference foes Copleston High School and Itchen College matched up for the first time.


Southern Conference

Copleston moved to 4-0 at the top of the WEABL Southern Conference with a dominant 86-43 win against a talented Itchen team. The hosts started the game at pace as IBA newcomer Becky Harwood-Bellis saw her first action since her comeback from injury. The former Manchester guard connected on twelve first quarter points as the Suffolk side opened up a 20-7 lead after the first period.

Harwood-Bellis would go on to lead Copleston with 20 points, on 8-15 shooting, while Cameron Taylor-Willis had a stellar performance with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Charlotte Redhead added 18 points of her own, as Esther Little continued to dominate all over the court with a triple-double of 16 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists. Itchen were led by 15 points from Luisa San Juan in the loss.
