Southern Conference

City of London Academy opened up their WEABL campaign at home with a 59-63 loss to John Madejski Academy on Wednesday afternoon, a surprising result with CoLA having only previously lost two games on their home court in three previous seasons in the WEABL. The Reading-based academy got the one key stop they needed in the final 30 seconds, leaving CoLA having to foul to extend the game. CoLA were led in scoring by Maya Hyacienth’s 23 point effort, supported by 13 points from Amelia Sandie as Ashana Hinds chipped in with nine points. Anabel Ciria led JMA with 17 points, supported by Paula Romero Tarrega and Noa Sanchez Marquez who added 15 and 13, respectively.
