WEABL Week 3 Round Up

Two postponements in Week 3 of the WEABL saw a quieter week of action, but two very exciting games did not disappoint!

Northern Conference

The sole game in the Northern Conference saw Manchester Mystics Academy travel to Myerscough College, both in their first action of the 2018/19 season. A back-and-forth game eventually went the way of the hosts, 63-62, after Kyra Smith knocked down two clutch free throws with 11.8 seconds to play to give her side the victory. Smith led her team in scoring with 24 points, supported by Celina Eisenhardt and Sasha Lecuyer who combined for 17. Jade Mbam finished with 17 points to lead the Mystics, while Chloe Andrew and Lina Asobirionwu each added 12 for the Mystics in the loss.

Southern Conference

Again, there was only one game that took place in the Southern Conference this week, as Copleston High School headed to John Madejski Academy. Copleston were able to pull out the win in Reading, as they defeated the hosts 46-49, behind 18 points from Charlotte Redhead. Esther Little nailed a three in the last minute, then Copleston iced the game from the foul line to go on to win, despite a last second heave from the hosts to win a memorable contest. Cameron Taylor-Willis added 11 and Esther Little had 10 for Copleston, while JMA were led by 13 points from Carmen Segura Moreno.
