Esther Little has been named the WEABL Player of the Week, after her 11 point and 19 rebound effort led Copleston to a narrow 46-49 victory on the road at John Madejski Academy.

The 6’2″ guard stuffed the stat-sheet by also adding four assists, three steals and four blocks, alongside her monster effort on the boards for the Suffolk-based squad.

Little looked to her teammates upon receiving the award, “It’s an honour to win this award but it was way more than an individual performance. Both Cam and Charlotte hit big shots down the stretch. We had each others back in the final moments of the game and that’s what got us the win. It was a tough win against a strong JMA side away from home, especially playing the way we did however we couldn’t have got off to a better start to the season.”

Copleston coach Nick Drane added, “This was a big win for our team. JMA will be a real handful for everyone, and we had to dig very deep down the stretch to secure this win. One of the things that I think separates Esther is how she is able to impact and dominate a game without necessarily being the leading scorer. Today she was calculated and composed in key moments down the stretch and dominated the game in so many ways.”
