Player of the Week: Cameron Taylor-Willis

The WEABL Player of the Week has been awarded to Cameron Taylor-Willis of Copleston High School, after a Week 1 performance of 21 points and 13 rebounds.

Taylor-Willis’ efforts helped Copleston knock off reigning WEABL National Champions Barking Abbey on their home floor turned heads around the league. Taylor-Willis was critical in Copleston’s 53-61 victory, making big plays down the stretch.

Taylor-Willis commented, “It’s a great privilege to win this award, but it was far more important to get the win and get off to such a great start to this season. We knew that it doesn’t get any tougher than Barking Abbey away and it was a total team effort to get that win. Hopefully we can build on this and use the game as a building block for the rest of the season.”

Copleston Head Coach Nick Drane added, “Cameron is still in Year 11 and is not yet sixteen, so to win this award on the back of such a huge win against the National Champions is a true measure of the hard work that Cameron puts in on a daily basis. She thoroughly deserves this recognition and in a game with so many talented players on both rosters, she was a standout performer.”
