2017-18 All-WEABL Teams Announced

The WEABL is pleased to reveal the All-WEABL Teams, which were voted on by team coaches from across the league.

There are three teams chosen as 15 players are recognised for their performances over the 2017-18 regular season.

In the All-WEABL First Team, Barking Abbey duo Charlotte Ellmore and Zoe Willis are joined by Charnwood’s Holly Winterburn, Shauna Harrison of Myerscough and Copleston centre Maya Price.

GB Under-18 Ellmore (18.0ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.6apg, 2.2spg) led BA back to the final, ranking in the top five in scoring with Willis (13.2ppg, 5.4rpg, 3.8apg) also having a solid season for the 2016 winners.

Winterburn (16.0ppg, 7.8rpg, 5.2apg, 4.5spg) was in the top 10 in scoring, second in assists and also led the league in steals for Charnwood. Meanwhile, Harrison (14.9ppg 6.0rpg 4.1spg) earned a second All-First Team honour with Price (23.8ppg, 15.5rpg, 2.5bpg) leading the league in points and blocks with the trio having played alongside Ellmore with the GB U18s last summer.

In the All-WEABL Second Team, Oaklands have two players in Tia Freeman and Krisztina Nagy with CoLA team-mates Megan Haines and Maya Hyacienth also included with Charnwood’s Ebony Horton completing the lineup.

Freeman (17.7ppg, 7.0rpg, 4.1apg, 3.4spg) had a big season for Oaklands as they reached the Final Four with Nagy (21.2ppg, 6.8rpg, 3.3apg, 3.3spg) leading her team in scoring as the third leading scorer amongst the league.

Haines (13.8ppg, 4.2apg, 2.0spg) and Hyacienth (15.0ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.8spg) both impressed for CoLA as they helped their side to the Final Four, while Horton (15.0ppg, 5.8rpg) had a strong year for finalists Charnwood.

The All-WEABL Third Team sees Ashleigh Pink earn end of season honours for the third year in a row with Oaklands’ Ciara Belsham and Milly Knowles of Myerscough also included with Paula Romero Tarrega making history for John Madejski Academy, while Nottingham’s Ines Guerreiro rounds out the team.

Pink (15.5ppg, 6.8rpg, 10.0apg) led the league in assists once again for Copleston, while Romero Tarrega (15.3ppg, 7.0rpg, 4.0apg, 3.3spg) starred for JMA in their maiden campaign in the WEABL.

Belsham (10.7ppg, 9.7rpg) almost averaged a double-double for Oaklands on their way to the Final Four with Knowles (12.0ppg, 7.2rpg, 3.6spg) having another strong year for Myerscough and Guerreiro (12.8ppg, 6.7rpg, 4.5apg) led the way for Nottingham in their second season.
