WEABL 2017-18 Round-Up – Week 5

The final round of action in 2017 of the third WEABL season saw the final spots secured for the next stage of competition.

John Madejski Academy picked up their first win as they overcame Greig City on the road in a 43-57 success.

Angelique Vallava-Cue top scored with 14 points in the win with 13 points apiece coming from Noa Sanchez Marquez and Natalia Osborne.

Meanwhile, Copleston powered past GCA with a convincing 78-45 home victory to round off the calendar year in style.

Ashleigh Pink starred with another triple-double of 14 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists with Maya Price top scoring with 22 points along with 13 boards.

Loreto maintained their place in the WEABL with a 53-63 road triumph over Nottingham Academy in a pivotal clash.

Lina Asobirionwu netted 20 points to help her side to back-to-back wins with Fiona Connolly adding a further 17 points.

Barking Abbey, Myerscough, City of London Academy, Loreto, Oaklands, John Madejski Academy, Charnwood and Copleston make up the eight teams advancing in the WEABL as they battle it out over seven weeks, starting on January 17.

Greig City, Moulton and Nottingham will face each other in home and away fixtures as part of the inaugural WAEL.
