Player of the Week: Kyla Nelson

Kyla Nelson has picked up the Player of the Week award for the second week running after a fine all-round display in Oaklands’ latest win.

The GB Senior guard contributed a double-double of 12 points and 11 assists, whilst adding six rebounds and six steals to her side’s convincing 42-point win against Greig City.

“I am very grateful to get the WEABL player of the week award again,” she declared.

“It really could’ve gone to any of my teammates. Maja (Gobi), Anna and Krisztina (Nagy) all had great scoring games in our win on Wednesday.

“It’s great to see them so confident on the floor and making plays/shots, makes it easy for me to play relaxed and confident knowing they are running with me.

“It was another game, I believe we got better in the win and we’re just excited for the next one.

Head of Performance, Lee Ryan added: “This performance just goes to show how much Kyla’s all round game has improved, and the best part is she is still hungry every day to get better.

“We have some special players at the academy this year and if this is a glimpse into what Kyla can do with good player around her then the whole Pittsburgh organisation will benefit when she arrives on campus this fall.”

Oaklands are now 5-2 in the South Conference as they sit second behind the unbeaten, CoLA.
