WEABL Expands to 10 Teams, Two Conferences

The Women’s Elite Academy Basketball League (WEABL) has expanded to 10 teams across two conferences ahead of the 2016-17 season that tips off this week.

Following a successful inaugural season in 2015-16, an additional four teams from across the country have been added to the league to add to the talent pool of the competition, whilst the league has been split into a North and South Conference.

WEABL Chairman Jesse Sazant commented:

“It’s great the WEABL has expanded this year. Now in it’s second season we want the competition to continue to grow in terms of quality and opportunities for elite women’s players in an academic environment.

“The infrastructure the WEABL provides allows players, coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists and referees increased opportunities to develop and perform at an elite level.”

The four new teams competing in this year’s WEABL are: Myerscough College, Nottingham Academy, Greig City Academy and Rydens Enterprise School.
