Player of the Week: Zoe Willis

Barking Abbey’s Zoe Willis has been named the WEABL Player of the Week for Week 3 of the inaugural season.

Willis shone in her sides 55-48 win away at City of London Academy with 22 points including back-to-back 3-pointers in a critical stage of the final quarter.

“The game against City of London Academy was a strong test for our side, especially with a large crowd supporting the home team,” Willis said.

“We had a slow, nervous start but the second half showed just how well we are as a team. We were able to make good defensive stops which led to us executing well offensively.”

“I’m really pleased for Zoe to have been selected as Player of the Week,” said BA Head Coach Karen Burton.

“She was a big influence in the game against CoLA, in particular her two big threes down the stretch. With her offensive skill set she has the potential to be one of the best scorers in the WEABL if she continues to develop. She is earning valuable minutes in the WBBL which can only add to her input in the WBBL for us.”

Barking Abbey are next in action at home to Copleston High School on November 11..
